Fujifilm Corp. “instax mini 13” instant cameras are shown in Tokyo on Thursday.

Fujifilm Corp. will release a new entry-level model in the “instax” instant camera series on April 24, the company said Thursday.

Instax mini 13 has a self-timer function, which makes it easier for users to take selfies and is aimed at increasing demand among young people. The function has only been available in some of the previous models in the series, which is nicknamed “Cheki” in Japan.

The self-timer can be set for either 2 seconds or 10 seconds. The camera’s body has a nicely rounded form, user-friendly and comes in five pastel colors, including pink and purple. The estimated price is ¥12,100 including tax, which is on par with the previous model, the instax mini 12.

“We are improving our product line-up and hope more and more people will pick them up,” said Masato Yamamoto, the company’s senior executive vice president, at a meeting to present the new camera in Tokyo on Thursday.
