Cherry blossoms and tulips were in bloom along the banks of the Funa River in Asahi, Toyama Prefecture, on Monday.

About 280 cherry blossom trees, mostly the Someiyoshino variety, line both sides of the river for about 1.2 kilometers.

During this time of year, visitors to the area can see what is known as the “Spring Quartet,” as cherry blossoms, tulips and rapeseed flowers are all in bloom, while the snow-capped Northern Alps can be seen in the distance.

While the cherry blossoms reached full bloom on Monday, the rapeseed flowers were still sparse. As the temperature gets warmer, more rapeseed flowers are expected to bloom, reaching their peak around mid- to late-April.
