A massive cherry tree believed to be more than 1,000 years old is in full bloom in Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture

The Miharu Takizakura cherry tree, a national natural monument located in Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture, is in full bloom. A massive weeping cherry tree standing 13.5 meters tall with a root circumference of 11.3 meters, the tree is said to be over 1,000 years old It is illuminated at night, casting a magical glow on the blossoms that resemble a cascading waterfall. Depending on the weather, visitors are expected to be able to enjoy the blossoms until around this weekend.
