Tokyo, April 15 (Jiji Press)—Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, agreed Wednesday to closely cooperate in responding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East.

“The security of the Euro-Atlantic and that of the Indo-Pacific are closely linked,” Takaichi said at the start of her meeting with Tusk at the prime minister’s office in Tokyo.

“There are a host of challenges, including Ukraine and the Middle East, that the international community as a whole has to address,” Takaichi added, seeking cooperation.

Tusk replied that Poland and Japan share common values.

At a joint press conference, the leaders signaled the further strengthening of bilateral ties.

The talks marked their first meeting. It is the first visit to Japan by a Polish prime minister since January 2020.
