Police Officer Referred to Prosecutors for Showing Knife at Woman’s Husband, Demanding He Not Divorce Her

FUKUOKA — An officer of the Fukuoka prefectural police was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of showing a 13-centimeter blade to a female acquaintance’s husband while demanding that he not divorce her, it has been learned.

According to the prefectural police, the woman, who had been romantically involved with the officer, was being pressured by her husband for a divorce. The officer is suspected of conspiring with the woman in the act.

In March, the prefectural police disciplined the officer by cutting his pay by 10% for six months. The officer admitted to the allegations and resigned.
