Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Abusing 5-Year-Old Girl While Working at Facility for Children with Disabilities

The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of sexually abusing a girl after luring her into his home while working as a driver taking children to and from a facility for children with disabilities.

The MPD announced the arrest on Monday.

The MPD said the facility is in Chiba Prefecture.

The man is suspected of having taken the girl, then 5 years old, to his apartment in Matsudo in the prefecture while transporting her on Feb. 22, 2024, abusing her, and recording the incident on his smartphone, according to the MPD

The MPD said the suspect told investigators, “I don’t remember.”

The MPD has seized seven of the man’s smartphones and plans to proceed with analyzing the data stored on them.

The MPD said it received a tip from an outside source in November last year, which led to the discovery of the incident.

According to the MPD, the suspect worked at the facility from around June 2023 to March 2024, where he was responsible for transporting children with disabilities. He holds a childcare worker certification and a kindergarten teacher’s license. Additionally, the man is believed to have a history of working at homes for children and cram schools.
