Earthquake Jolts Kansai Region, Recording Magnitude 4.2, Japanese Seismic Intensity Scale 3


An earthquake jolted the Kansai region on Wednesday evening, recording 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in parts of Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

No tsunami advisories were issued.

The 4.2-magnitude quake took place at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, with the focus 20 kilometers deep below southeast Hyogo Prefecture.
