All Restrictions Lifted for Kan-Etsu Expwy Following Massive Pileup (Update 1)

All restrictions have been lifted for the Kan-Etsu Expressway, the site of a massive 67-vehicle pileup on Friday.

A section of the Niigata-bound lane between the Tsukiyono and Minakami interchanges in Gunma Prefecture was reopened at 1 p.m. Sunday by operator East Nippon Expressway Co.

The accident occurred at about 7:25 p.m. Friday near the Minakami Interchange on the Niigata-bound lane. Two people were killed and 26 injured.
