Japan Sees Mercury Top 30 C in Shizuoka While Central Tokyo Records 27.3 C

Shizuoka City saw the mercury soar to 30.3 C, becoming the highest temperature in the country on Saturday. Sunny weather brought an unusually hot day to most parts of the nation for this time of the year, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The temperature of 30.3 C, recorded after 1 p.m., was 11.1 C above the average high for Shizuoka City. Central Tokyo saw Saturday’s highest temperature rise to 27.3 C, according to the JMA.

On Sunday, sunny weather is forecasted for many parts of the nation, but the highs are expected to be lower than Saturday’s, the agency said.
