Cherry Blossom Swirls at Japan’s Gifu Park Attract Photo Enthusiasts

Cherry blossom petals floating on the surface of a pond that form swirls at a park in Gifu City has become a hot topic among photography enthusiasts on social media.

The instagrammable cherry blossom petal swirls can be seen at the Japan-China friendship garden at Gifu Park.

The petals, which fall from the surrounding cherry trees, slowly drift along currents formed from a fountain in the pond. When photographed using an exposure time of about 15 to 20 seconds, swirls in the color of the cherry blossoms appear on the water’s surface.

On Tuesday evening, many enthusiasts set up their tripods and eagerly snapped photos. A 68-year-old photography enthusiast, who had come from Komaki in Aichi Prefecture, said with a smile, “I was able to capture the flow of time beautifully.”
